As previously stated, each sector of planet Megara has a leader that delegates the sector by participating in governmental procedures and events. This committee of delegations is known as the Hexagon, since there are six ruling delegations. The names of the current delegations are Lib, Ub, Nib, Bab, Reb, and Ob. The Hexagon meets at least once a week in the Courthouse, located in the purple sector, to discuss parliamentary and juridical procedures.

 

Every year a new Megarian is elected to delegate a certain sector. This is done in a very spontaneous manner. The current delegations are supposed to hide a diamond in each sector (each diamond being the color of their corresponding sector). The inhabitant that manages to find the diamond in his or her sector becomes the next delegation, since to the planet’s inhabitants, finding the diamond means wisdom, brilliance, and strategy (all characteristics important in a delegate of Megara).

 

Furthermore, the Hexagon frequently makes amendments to the planet’s Constitution, which is called the Megarian Official Constitution. The planet lives by 98 laws, all printed in the constitution. Neglecting to comply with the laws results in a juridical sentence and imprisonment in the planet’s jail.

 

Moreover, the Hexagon meets frequently with the governments of the other planets in the Alpha Quadrant, discussing the problems of the galaxy and possible solutions. This intergovernmental meeting of planets is known as the UGAAQ, the United Governmental Association of the Alpha Quadrant. If a major problem is presented to the UGAAQ, the planets will then have to meet with the intergovernmental organizations of the planets of other quadrants.
